Nicholas Vita

Co-Founder & Chief Executive Officer of Columbia Care

Nicholas Vita, has over 20 years of professional experience in the financial services, healthcare and infrastructure industries. Mr. Vita is currently serving as the Chief Executive Officer and Member of the Board of Columbia Care, LLC, a New York-based holding company with interests in the healthcare, clinical research, real estate, education and technology sectors. Nick also serves as a Partner and Member of the Investment Committee for a New York alternative investment firm focused on the healthcare, PPP (public/private partnerships) and military infrastructure sectors. He works with several not-for-profit companies, where he serves as a Director, Advisor and supporter. The recipient of a bachelor of arts from Columbia College, Columbia University, he began his career in finance in the mid-1990s, first working for Crimson Capital, a private, US Government-sponsored advisory company in Central/Eastern Europe advising, structuring and financing Public/Private Partnerships to facilitate the transformation of centrally planned economies to free, market-based economies. His roles in Eastern Europe included temporary assignments with the State Bank of Czechoslovakia and the Czech Ministry of Privatization. He went on to serve as a financial analyst in the M&A department of the investment banking division at S.G. Warburg & Co., Inc. before joining Goldman Sachs & Co. in the beginning of 1997. Nicholas Vita worked his way up through Goldman Sachs, being promoted directly through to Vice President in the Investment Banking Division’s Healthcare Department. He left Goldman Sachs & Co. in late 2002 to join ARX Investment Management, LP, a multi-billion dollar credit fund as the Healthcare Sector Portfolio Manager and Member of the Investment Committee. In 2006, Nicholas Vita co-founded AIM and its sister funds with his partner, Dr. Rosemary Mazanet where he began sourcing and structuring alternative investments across a wide variety of products, including public/private equity and distressed debt in the healthcare sector. Today, he oversees all operations at Columbia Care and remains involved in AIM and its affiliated investment vehicles, including Apelles Public/Private Partnership, LLC, where he serves on the firm’s Management and Investment Committees. Outside of work, Nicholas Vita enjoys donating his time and resources to various nonprofits in the early stage science/research (focused on nanotechnology and open source initiatives) and neighborhood community building. Nick has served as an expert panelist for the Foresight Institute, a guest lecturer at Columbia Business School, an inaugural Member of the Board of the Deerfield Club of New York and was a volunteer-member of the first Somos Amigos medical mission. He continues to support Columbia and the Kings Crown Rowing Association as well as Deerfield Academy and supports charitable organizations including the Purple Heart Service Foundation, BUILD, The Salvation Army and the Fraternal Order of Police. His regular visits to the Bergen County Animal Shelter led to his rescue of a 150 pound Staffordshire Terrier/Mastiff/Chesapeake lab mix named Darwin. Nick is a firm believer in private sector support of veterans affairs and has instituted policies at all of his companies to ensure active recruitment and training/education opportunities for our warriors return home.
