Michael Clune

Born in Dublin, Ireland, Mike Clune began his career in the construction business at an early age in Europe and the Middle East. In 1978 he moved to Chicago, Illinois. Shortly after his arrival, he secured an entry-level job at the company would ultimately be the foundation for building his own firm. Over the years, Mike’s personal work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit guided him in transforming that company into Clune Construction where he is currently Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. In 1996, this same work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit earned Mike his induction into the Entrepreneurship Hall of Fame. Sponsored by the University of Chicago, the award is given to innovative business leaders in the Chicago area who have spearheaded private companies, overcome challenges, and exhibited high levels of excellence while demonstrating consistent sales growth, employment generation, innovation and profitability.

Prior to joining EMCOR in 2005, Mike was general manager at United Technologies—Carrier Corporation, where he managed sales and operations for its commercial mechanical and HVAC services business throughout half the United States, and the mechanical services business throughout Canada. Mike held the role of Area Manager at Siebe Environmental Controls (presently Invensys), prior to joining United Technologies. This broad scope and high caliber of experience has provided Mike the extensive skills and expertise required to oversee multiple geographic locations and challenging acquisitions while managing a wide range of professionals, from sales and operations personnel to HVAC engineers. Mike holds a Bachelor of Science in general engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He is active in the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA), the Chicago Building Owners Association, the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE)—Chicago Chapter, and the Western Trades Association of Chicagoland Contractors. Mike enjoys spending time with his family and is actively involved in sports and community activities.
