​Widely recognized as one of Vancouver’s most influential contributors to the real estate industry, David Podmore has been in the business for more than 40 years. David brought years of planning and development experience to the table when he co-founded Concert with Jack Poole in 1989. Today, David serves as Concert’s Chairman & Chief Executive Officer. As of January 2015, the Concert entities (owned by 19 Canadian pension funds representing 200,000 British Columbians) had shareholders’ equity of over $1.7 billion and assets of over $2.8 billion with significant increases expected in the 2015 operating year. David holds a Bachelor’s Degree specializing in community planning from the University of British Columbia and a Master’s Degree (Earth Sciences) specializing in urban planning from the University of Alberta. He is a Registered Professional Planner (MCIP), a Professional Member of the Real Estate Institute of British Columbia (RIBC) and the Real Estate Institute of Canada (FRI). In 2005, David was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Technology from the British Columbia Institute of Technology. David has served as Chair of the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) Foundation, President of the Urban Development Institute (Pacific Region), President of the Greater Vancouver Home Builders Association, member of the BC Progress Board, Chair of the BC Children’s Hospital Foundation (BCCHF) and spent eight years as a director of the Canadian Tourism Commission. He currently serves as Chair of the FortisBC Board of Directors and is a Director of LifeLabs Inc. He recently returned as Chair of the BCCHF. David is often recognized for his tireless efforts to give back to the community, both professionally and personally, serving as Chair of the BC Pavilion Corporation between 2007 and 2012 when he was asked to assume responsibility to oversee completion of the Vancouver Convention Centre Expansion in preparation for the 2010 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games, and subsequently refurbishment of BC Place Stadium. He also played a key role in development of facilities plans for Vancouver’s bid to host the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Games and chaired the 2003 “Vote Yes” plebiscite campaign successfully urging Vancouver voters to support the Vancouver 2010 Olympic bid. David is the recipient of numerous community and professional awards including the first Award of Excellence granted by the Real Estate Institute of BC. In February 2011, he was selected as British Columbia’s “Residential Construction Person of the Year”. He is a recipient of the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal, and in 2014 was invested to the Order of British Columbia. David has been a member of LifeLabs’ Board of Directors since October 2009.
