Randy AuCoin was most recently Vice President, Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs at VisualSonics and was responsible for all quality assurance and control efforts and for directing all regulatory affairs. Randy joined VisualSonics in 2003. He has extensive experience in managing quality assurance and regulatory affairs. Randy has been involved in three previous start up ventures. From 2000 to 2003, Mr. AuCoin was manager of engineering and quality assurance at Dicomit DICOM Information Technologies, and later at Cedara software which acquired Dicomit. He played an integral part in setting up a quality system that met the requirements of FDA cGMP, UL, CE, ISO 9001, and ISO 13485. He ensured ongoing compliance with regulatory and ISO 13485 requirements, as well as continually improving the company’s quality system From 1998 to 2000, he was a Y2K consultant with Ontario Hydro where he focused on identifying and renovating systems that were not Y2K friendly. From 1990 to 1998, Mr. AuCoin was principal engineer at Quinton Electrophysiology Corporation, a cardiac medical device manufacturer, where he designed and developed software and firmware. Mr. AuCoin was an adjunct professor at DeVry Institute of Technology (Toronto) from 1993 to 1994. He holds a diploma in Computer Programming and Systems from DeVry, and continues to take many continuing education programs in the areas of quality management systems, regulatory affairs, and engineering. Mr. AuCoin is named as an inventor on a patent in electro-physiology.
