Jun Lei is a Chinese investor, who has been likened to Ron Conway of Silicon Valley. Jun founded Joyo.com in 2000, which was later acquired by Amazon in 2004. He also held positions at Kingsoft, leading the company to its IPO on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. He currently serves as Chairman of UCWeb, a leading Chinese mobile browser. Jun Lei was part of the founding team of Kingsoft in 1992. He later functioned as CEO of Kingsoft in 1998. He founded Joyo.com in 1999. After Kingsoft’s listing on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, Jun relinquished his post as CEO and remained as Chairman of the company. In the following years, Jun Lei invested in many startup companies like Vancl, YY and UC. In April 2010 Jun Lei founded Xiaomi. Jun Lei is the recepient of many honors. He was awarded “Top 10 IT Figures” in 1999, 2000, and 2002. In 2005, he was chosen as the “Top 10 Figures of Gaming”. In 2012, he was selected by China Central Television as one of the Top 10 Business Leaders of the Year. He was also named one of the 11 Most Powerful Business people in Asia by Fortune in March 2013. In November 2013, he was awarded the Most Notable Entrepreneur by BAZAAR Men’s Style.
