Chris Trapani, Co-Founder and CEO of Christie’s International Real Estate, has been named among the top 100 most powerful people in Silicon Valley. The Silicon Valley Business Journal Power 100 List is comprised of the most influential leaders within the area who have made significant contributions to the area’s economy and communities.
“I am beyond honored to be recognized by the Silicon Valley Business Journal on its Power 100 List. To sit alongside CEOs like Tim Cook of Apple and Mark Zuckerberg of Meta is a surreal feeling. When we started Sereno, we had the vision that better companies made better communities, and seeing my name on this list was a reminder that our company does just that daily. And I know that so much good still lies ahead for our company,” shared Chris Trapani.
The Power 100 List for 2023 was created with the following criteria in mind:
Influencers who are either redefining what Silicon Valley is all about or improving what’s already working well in the region
Leaders who are adeptly navigating their companies and organizations through challenges and capitalizing on emerging opportunities
Visionaries who have unique insights about the future and are motivating others to follow them
Game changers: people who in 10 or 20 years from now we’ll say, “they changed history”
Trapani began his real estate career after graduating from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in 1990 as a licensed agent. In 2000, he grew into various brokerage manager roles, including Sales Manager of Coldwell Banker Los Gatos, managing a team of 200 Realtors closing in excess of $1B in annual sales. Shortly after, Chris was promoted to Executive Vice President of Coldwell Banker Silicon Valley and then became President and COO. His role included overseeing 17 offices and 1500 agents, producing $8 billion in annual sales volume.
With a desire to create a company rooted in community and motivation driven by a socially responsible philosophy versus the typical, bottom-line, solely profit-driven business objectives, he and Co-Founder Ryan Iwanaga launched Sereno in July of 2006.
Since 2006, Christie’s International Real Estate Sereno has grown to become the largest locally-owned and operated independent real estate company in Northern California, with 18 offices and nearly 600 agents in Silicon Valley, the SF peninsula, Santa Cruz, the East Bay, Lake Tahoe, San Luis Obispo, and Sierra Foothills, producing over $6.8B in annual sales volume.
Its agent-driven Sereno 1% For Good Charitable Foundation is changing lives in local communities and has generated over $5.5 million in charitable donations given to 400 local organizations.
“It is such an honor to serve as Co-Founder of Sereno with Chris, and I am incredibly grateful to call him my best friend and business partner. He has a unique way of leading by inspiring others, through his genuine desire to see others succeed, that is evident throughout every aspect of how he lives his life,” shared Ryan Iwanaga, Co-Founder and Chief Experience Officer of Christie’s International Real Estate Sereno.
